Joe Gamel was a revered fixture on Benton Ave. for 60 years. His commitment to service and the dignity in which he performed it earned him the affectionate title the "Mayor of Benton Avenue." Gamel's Service station is now a Subway sandwich shop at 731 N. Benton.Bob Linder/The News-Leader
